Emily Dickinson (1830–86).  Complete Poems.  1924.

Part One: Life

CXI

  I, lost, was passing by—
An instant’s width of warmth disclosed,

  I, lost, was passing by,—
Lost doubly, but by contrast most,
  Enlightening misery.
