  toto notus in orbe Martialis
argutis epigrammaton libellis:
cui, lector studiose, quod dedisti
uiuenti decus atque sentienti        5
rari post cineres habent poetae.

Vndenis pedibusque syllabisque
et multo sale, nec tamen proteruo,
notus gentibus ille Martialis
et notus populis—quid inuidetis?—        10
non sum Andraemone notior caballo.
