Henry James Buckoll (18031871)
HENRY JAMES BUCKOLL (18031871) was educated at Rugby and Queens College, Oxford. Graduating in 1826, he became Assistant Master at Rugby. In 1839 he edited A Collection of Hymns for the Rugby Parish Church, and in 1850, with Dr. Goulburn, a new edition of the collection for the Rugby School Chapel, to which he contributed fourteen hymns. He also published Hymns Translated from the German (1842). This contained translations, sixty-seven in number, from Bunsens Versuch. The following text is taken from The Christian Life: its Course, Hindrances, and its Helps (1841), a volume of sermons preached in Rugby School Chapel by Dr. Arnold.
