Bound Home to Mount Sung
By Witter Bynner and Kiang Kung-hu, trans.

From “Poems by Wang Wei”
From the Chinese

THE LIMPID river, past its bushes
Flowing slowly as my chariot,
Seems a fellow-voyager
Returning with the evening-birds.
A ruined city-wall overtops an old ferry,        5
Autumn sunset floods the peaks….
Far away, beside Mount Sung,
I shall rest and close my door.
