In the church of St. Pierre, August, 1918 OLD music wove its beauty through each word
Which echoed from the chancel down the nave.

Old beauty of fled twilights stained each beam,
Carved like the fingers of some soul in prayer.

A woman veiled in black knelt on the stone,	5
The beauty of old suffering on her face.
