I HAVE need of love,
I am parched,
And I am barren.
I await the thunder of your demand,
While I crave the lightning shock        5
Of your embrace
To plough my hardened breast
To flower.
I must have the rainfall
Of your kisses        10
Increase to torrents
To saturate my sterility;
So the hot sun
Of your smile
Will burst my bud-bonds,        15
For I must become fecund
That I may sing,
I have need of you!
