NOUN:1a. A fence of pales forming a defense barrier or fortification. b. One of the pales of such a fence. 2. palisades A line of lofty steep cliffs, usually along a river.

To equip or fortify with palisades or a palisade.
ETYMOLOGY:French palissade, from Old French, from Old Provençal palissada, from palissa, stake, from Vulgar Latin *plcea, from Latin plus. See pag- in Appendix I.
