NOUN: A lustrous, blackish-brown rare-earth mineral consisting primarily of cerium, erbium, titanium, uranium, and yttrium.
ETYMOLOGY:From Greek euxenos, kind to strangers (from its unusual composition) : eu-, eu- + xenos, stranger; see ghos-ti- in Appendix I.
