NOUN: Any of several creeping grasses of the genus Zoysia, native to southeast Asia and New Zealand and widely cultivated for lawns.
ETYMOLOGY:New Latin Zoysia, genus name, after Karl von Zois zu Laubach (1756–1800?), Austrian botanist.
