Suffixed o-grade form *m-to-. a. mood1, from Old English md, mind, disposition; b. gemütlich, gemütlichkeit, from Old High German muot, mind, spirit. Both a and b from Germanic *mthaz. 2. Perhaps suffixed o-grade form *m-s-. moral, morale, mores, morose, from Latin ms, wont, humor, manner, custom. (Pokorny 5. m- 704.)
