ADJECTIVE:1. Not in accordance with what is usual or expected: amiss, astray, awry, wrong. See SURPRISE, THRIVE. 2. Having a noticeably sharp pungent taste or smell: acerbic, acrid, bitter, harsh. See TASTE. 3. Broodingly and sullenly unhappy: dour, gloomy, glum, moody, morose, saturnine, sulky, sullen, surly. See HAPPY. 4. Having a taste characteristic of that produced by acids: acerb, acerbic, acetous, acid, acidulous, dry, tangy, tart1. See TASTE.
