NOUN:A gradual disappearance, especially of a film image: dissolve, fadeaway, fade-out. See INCREASE, SEE.
VERB:1. To pass out of sight either gradually or suddenly: disappear, evanesce, evaporate, fade out, vanish. See SHOW. 2. To become inaudible: die (away, out, or down), fade out. See INCREASE. 3. To disappear gradually by or as if by dispersal of particles: dissolve, melt (away). See INCREASE, SEE. 4. To lose strength or power: decline, degenerate, deteriorate, fail, flag2, languish, sink, wane, waste (away), weaken. Informal : fizzle (out). Idioms: go downhill, hit the skids. See INCREASE, STRONG.
