NOUN:1. A thin outer covering of an object: lamina, membrane, sheath, sheathing. See SURFACE. 2. The outer covering of a fruit: peel, rind. See SURFACE. 3. The tissue forming the external covering of the body: epidermis, integument. See SURFACE.
VERB:1. To furnish with a covering of a different material: clad, cover, face, sheathe, side. See SURFACE. 2. To remove the skin of: decorticate, pare, peel, scale1, strip1. See PUT ON. 3. Slang. To exploit (another) by charging too much for something: fleece, overcharge. Slang : clip1, gouge, nick, rip off, scalp, soak. Idioms: make someone pay through the nose, take someone for a ride , take someone to the cleaners . See HONEST.
