7. Pronunciation Challenges: Confusions and Controversy

§ 3. acumen


The pronunciation (-ky´mn), with stress on the second syllable, is an older, traditional pronunciation reflecting the word’s Latin origin. An Anglicized variant pronunciation with stress on the first syllable, (k´y-mn), is equally acceptable and may be more common in British English.    1
