(b n d k´t s) (KEY) , hymn of Zachary, taken from Luke 1.6879. It begins in Latin, Benedictus Dominus Deus Israel [blessed be the Lord God of Israel]. It is used at funerals and at lauds in the Roman Catholic Church and at morning prayer in the Church of England. Part of the Sanctus is also called Benedictus. |
