(jvän´n dl´lä kä´zä) (KEY) , 1503–56, Italian cleric and poet. He was archbishop of Benevento and papal nuncio to Venice. He wrote lyric verse, a life of Bembo, and a treatise on etiquette, the Galateo (1560, tr. 1576). His verse is often of great dignity and formal beauty.   1
