Chersiphron
 
 
(kûr´sfrn) (KEY) , fl. 6th cent. B.C., Cretan architect. According to tradition he was the builder of the original archaic Ionic temple of Artemis at Ephesus in Asia Minor (550 B.C.). He and his son Metagenes were said to be coauthors of a treatise on architectural engineering.
