river, c.100 mi (160 km) long, rising in the Laurentian Mts. and flowing N into Lake Kenogami, then E into the Saguenay River at Chicoutimi. A hydroelectric facility on the falls (50 ft/15 m high) just above Chicoutimi supplies power to the region’s aluminum and wood-processing industries.
