Christmasberry
 
 
or toyon (t´yn) (KEY) , evergreen tree or shrub (Photinia arbutifolia) of the family Rosaceae (rose family), found on the Pacific coast of North America. Its white flowers are followed by bright red berries; with its handsome leaves, it is used on the Pacific coast as a Christmas green. It is also called California holly. Most other species of Photinia, sometimes cultivated, are native to Asia East. Christmasberry is classified in the division Magnoliophyta, class Magnoliopsida, order Rosales, family Rosaceae.
