Delbrück, Rudolf von
(r´dôlf fn) (KEY) , 18171903, German statesman. He served (185776) under Bismarck as president of the chancellery of the North German Confederation (186671) and, after 1871, of the German Empire. A protagonist of free trade and liberal economics, he opposed Bismarcks adoption of a protectionist policy in the 1870s and resigned in 1876.
