Dupuytren, Guillaume, Baron
(gym´ bärôN´ düpüträN´) (KEY) , 17771835, French surgeon. As professor at the Hôtel Dieu, Paris, from 1812, he was noted as diagnostician, lecturer, and surgeon. He wrote on surgery, described a fracture of the fibula and a contraction of the hand that bear his name, and founded the chair of pathological anatomy at the Univ. of Paris. He was made a baron in 1823.
