Rozhdestvenski, Zinovi Petrovich
(znô´v ptrô´vch rzhdystvyn´sk) (KEY) , 18481909, Russian admiral. Commander of the Baltic fleet at the time of the Russo-Japanese War of 19045, he was ordered to take his fleet to East Asia. In the battle of Tsushima (1905), Rozhdestvenskis fleet was destroyed by Admiral Togos fleet. The Russian defeat led to an armistice with Japan shortly afterward.
