(gl´´shlz´) (KEY) , town (1991 pop. 13,573), Scottish Borders, SE Scotland, on the Gala Water. Famous for its tweeds and woolens, Galashiels is the site of the Scottish Borders campus of Heriot-Watt Univ. There is also a tanning industry.
