Lamballe, Marie Thérèse Louise de Savoie-Carignan, princesse de
 
 
(mär´ trz´ lwz d sävwä-kärnyäN´, prNss´ d läNbäl´) (KEY) , 1749–92, devoted friend and favorite of Queen Marie Antoinette of France. Extremely unpopular, she was killed by a mob during the French Revolution in the September massacres (1792), and her head was displayed on a pike under the queen’s windows.
