Lawton
 
 
city (1990 pop. 80,561), seat of Comanche co., SW Okla.; inc. 1901. It is a commercial and trade center for the surrounding cotton, wheat, and cattle area. Fort Sill is the largest local civilian employer. Lawton’s industries include machining and the production of baked goods, meat, rubber products, apparel, and steel. Cameron Univ. and the Museum of the Great Plains are in the city. Nearby is a large limestone quarry and the Wichita Mts. Wildlife Refuge.
