Løland, Rasmus
(räs´ms lö´län) (KEY) , 18611907, Norwegian novelist. Løland, who suffered from poor health throughout his life, produced numerous works after a late start as a writer. His autobiographical novel Aasmund Arak (1902) describes the anguish of an individual at odds with the rural society in which he lives. In Barnebøker [childrens books] (3 vol., 192325), considered his finest work, he shows remarkable insight into the world of children.
