city (1990 pop. 52,267), Oklahoma co., central Okla., a residential suburb of Oklahoma City; founded 1942 with the activation of adjoining Tinker Air Force Base, a logistics center. The developer and builder W. P. Atkinson planned for the city to be a model, with spacious parks and curved streets. The city’s industries produce sporting goods, transportation equipment, sheet-metal products, apparel, silica sand, and crushed granite.
