(pd´n) (KEY) , ancient town of Pieria, S Macedonia, near the Gulf of Salonica (now Thessaloníki). Nearby in 168 B.C. the Romans under Aemilius Paullus defeated the Macedonians under Perseus and thus ended the kingdom of Macedon.
