| 20 mi (32 km) long, NW Tenn., near the Mississippi River; designated a national natural landmark by the National Park Service. It was formed when a depression created by earthquakes in the winter of 181112 was filled with Mississippi River water. The lake is in a beautiful wooded area, which attracts fishermen and hunters. A state park and two national wildlife refuges are nearby. |
