(Kikuchi Yosai) (k k ´ch y ´s ) (KEY) , 1788–1878, Japanese painter, known for his depiction of historical subject matter. Although he was well trained in the Chinese and Western painting styles, he advocated a revival of the medieval style of Japanese painting. |
