Following a setback in the April 21 elections, Premier Eriksen's coalition Agrarian-Liberal-Conservative government announced its resignation. King Frederick asked members of the Social Democratic Labor Party to form a new cabinet.

King Frederick signed a
new constitution
that abolished the upper house of the Parliament and enlarged the lower house (Folketing).

Hans Hedtoft formed a new Social Democratic minority cabinet.
