In the west, Ferdinand of Brunswick drove the French back over the Rhine and defeated them in the Battle of Crefeld.	2

Battle of Zorndorf. Prussian victory over Russian army.	3

Oct. 14

Battle of Hochkirch. The Austrians had invaded the Lusatia and Frederick had hurried to the relief of his brother Henry. Baun defeated the Prussians at Hochkirch but was unable to drive Frederick out of Saxony and Silesia.	4
