San Bruno, city (1990 pop. 38,961), San Mateo co., W Calif., residential suburb 10 mi/16 km S of downtown San Francisco, on San Francisco Bay; 37°37'N 122°26'W. Skyline Col. (2-year), a natl. archives and records center, and a U.S. Marine Corps reserve base are in the city. Mfg. (communications equip., plastic bags, publishing, printed circuit boards, petroleum refining). San Francisco Internatl. Airport adjoins it to E on bay shore. Part of Golden Gate Natl. Recreation Area to W; San Francisco State Fish and Game Refuge to SW, including San Andreas L. reservoir, on San Andreas Fault. Inc. 1914.
