(machinery, fish nets, printing, bicycles, plumbing and heating prods., boats, concrete); summer resorts surrounding various lakes and rivers, farming. Home of Goodspeed Opera House where many Broadway plays are perfected before opening in New York City. Includes Moodus, Leesville, and Millington villages, Devils Hopyard State Park. Settled c.1670, set off from Haddam 1734.
