| East Hampton, town (1990 pop. 10,428), Middlesex co., S central Conn., 8 mi/12.9 km ENE of Middletown; 41°34'N 72°30'W. Agr. (fruit, dairy prods., poultry). Middle Haddam village, once a shipbuilding center, is 3 mi/4.8 km SSW. Pocotopaug L. (resort) formed by dam on the Pocotopaug R., state park here. Settled c.1710, inc. 1767 as Chatham, renamed 1915. |
