Amargosa Range
 
 
Amargosa Range, Inyo co., E Calif., and Nye co., S Nev., barren mts. forming E wall of Death Valley (282 ft/86 m below sea level), lowest point in the Americas; extends N-S c.110 mi/177 km SSE from Grapevine Peak (8,738 ft/2,663 m), in Nevada, to Amargosa R. Funeral Peak (6,384 ft/1,946 m) is near center; includes Dante’s View. Most of range in Death Valley Natl. Monument. E boundary of monument on E side of range. Sections of range are locally called Grapevine Mts., Funeral Mts., and Black Mts. Amargosa Desert is NE, in Nev., SE of Beatty.
