Cobre, Sierra del
 
 
Cobre, Sierra del (KO-brai, see-ER-uh dail), Santiago de Cuba prov., E Cuba, the E sect. of the Sierra Maestra, just W of Santiago de Cuba, with town of Cobre (copper deposits) on its slopes; 20°01'N 76°02'W. San Pedro peak (3,599 ft/1,097 m) is the highest point. A Can. mining company holds exploration rights to the area. Cojímar R. has carved out a striking gorge at W end of this range and flows a short distance to the Caribbean Sea.
