January 1st, 1892). “Astronomical Observations” (Cambridge, 9 vols., 1829–38); “Gravitation” (1834); “Ipswich Lectures on Astronomy” (1849); “Trigonometry” (1855); “Errors of Observation” (1861); “The Invasion of Britain by Julius Cæsar” (1865); “Sound” (1869); “Magnetism” (1870), etc. Also contributed important papers to the Transactions of several scientific societies.   1
