(b. 1810; d. 1881). “Publishers and Authors” (1867); “Letters and Life of Francis bacon” (1857–74); “Reviews and Discussions not relating to Bacon” (1869); “Life and Times of Bacon” (1876); “Evenings with a Reviewer; or Macaulay and Bacon” (1882). His important edition of Bacon’s Works began to appear in 1857.
