Cab’alist.
 
A Jewish doctor who professed the study of the Cab’ala, a mysterious science said to have been delivered to the Jews by revelation, and transmitted by oral tradition. This science consisted mainly in understanding the combination of certain letters, words, and numbers, said to be significant.   1
