Jessica Burnett
January 7, 2024
Instructions:
Record your responses on the template below each question and upload this document as your assessment submission. Do not change any of the items on the template except to add or delete space.
1.
What is the topic of your survey?
My survey will focus on the topic of Remote Work Experiences.
2.
Why is the topic important? How might the results of the study be used in your personal or professional life? This survey will be valuable in both my personal and professional life as I work remotely. I will be able to use the results to improve my remote work experience and share with colleagues
to help them as well.
3.
What are the potential variables to be included in data gathering? You must include at least three variables that might be a part of your study. Write a minimum of one paragraph describing your potential variables. There are many variables we could consider in a study about Remote Work Experiences. For this study's purpose, I will review at least basic demographics (age/gender) of the respondent, industry of the position, productivity levels, and work-life balance. The age and gender of the participants will be valuable because this may influence where the respondent is in their life socially or technically. Understanding the results in comparison with gender may provide insight into the success of remote work for male vs. female. Exploring experiences across different industries will help us understand potential variations and challenges specific to each sector. Measuring respondents perceived productivity while working remotely and comparing it to perceived productivity working onsite may help us understand where different age groups are most productive and which industries are most productive remotely. Lastly, exploring how 1
well individuals feel they are balancing work and personal life in a remote work set up could involve questions about set working hours and separation of work and leisure spaces. 4.
Define the population to be studied.
Write 1–3 sentences describing your target population. Include specific characteristics including age range, gender, location, and any other identifiers that are unique and relevant to your population.
This study will focus on professionals in remote jobs aged 18-65 across diverse industries.
5.
Explain why this is the best population for your study.
Write at least one paragraph analyzing why you have chosen this population for your study.
I chose the population for this study to include adults aged 18-65 to compare the experiences of
multiple generations. In addition, I would like to limit the respondents to professionals in remote jobs to focus on individuals who are currently working remotely or have experience with remote work in various professional fields so they will be able to quantify their perceived productivity in comparison to working onsite. Lastly, exploring remote work experiences across different industries will help us understand potential variations and challenges specific to each sector.

The Denver advertising agency promoting the new Breem dishwashing detergent wants to get the best exposure possible for the product within the $105,000 advertising budget ceiling placed on it. To do so, the agency needs to decide how much of the budget to spend on each of its two most effective media: (1) television spots during the afternoon hours and (2) large ads in the city's Sunday newspaper. Each television spot costs $3,000 each Sunday newspaper ad costs $1,250.
The expected exposure, based on industry ratings, is 35,000 viewers for each TV commercial and 20,000 readers for each newspaper advertisement. The agency director, Deborah Kellogg, knows from experience that it is important to use both media in order to reach the broadest spectrum of potential Breem customers. She decides that at least 5 but no more than 20 television spots should be ordered, and that at least 5 newspaper ads should be contracted.

The department of public works for a large city has decided to develop a Web-based pothole tracking and repair system (PHTRS). The department hired a new system analyst to analyse and design the web-based PHTRS. The analyst came up with the following description of their requirement:

Cregg Hart is manufacturing manager for Larabee Engineering, a locomotive engine and rail car manufacturer. The company has been very successful in recent years, and in July 2016 signed two major contracts totaling nearly $200 million. A key to the company’s success has been its focus on quality. Customers from around the world have been very pleased with the attention to detail put forth by Larabee Engineering. One of the things Cregg has been adamant about is that Larabee Engineering’s suppliers also provide high quality. As a result, when the company finds good suppliers, it stays with them and tries to establish a long-term relationship. However, Cregg must also factor in the costs of parts and materials and has instructed his purchasing staff to be on the lookout for “better deals.” Recently, Sheryl Carleson, purchasing manager, identified a new rivet supplier in Europe that claims its rivets are as good or better quality than the current supplier’s but at a much lower cost. The annual rates of return for the three types of loans are 7% for home loans, 12% for personal loans, and 9% for automobile loans. The bank’s planning committee has decided that at least 40% of the new funds must be allocated to home loans. In addition, the planning committee has specified that the amount allocated to personal loans cannot exceed 60% of the amount allocated to automobile loans.
Assume that ASB has the original $1 million in new funds available and that the planning committee has agreed to relax the requirement that at least 40% of the new funds must be allocated to home loans by 1%. How much would the annual return change? How much would the annual percentage return change? Discuss. *
