Plot starts out with an introduction of sorts then runs into the rising action, followed by the main point of the story, then the exposition. The middle of the story really brings the reader into what Hester and Williams marriage has been about and how it can change now. Hester explains this in a very, seems like, happy tone. Instead of being ok “ landlord and tenant,” they had something to really connect over an event that could bring a bit of surprise back into what was a “purely business” relationship between the two.Willa tells uses of how many things the two actually had in common and for years didn’t know about until a simple argument brought it out of both of them. William tells of how he should not have gone, but did against his dad’s wishes. Then they talk of events that had occurred over the years as kids and probably up until they were married. At the end of “The Sentimentality of William Tavener,” Willa tells the reader of the results of all the arguing at the beginning, and the connecting at the middle. The result puts the reader at ease with the fact that William is going to allow the boys to go to the circus after all. Willa also tells of how Hester had felt “of having missed something,” in her marriage after all these years of knowing william and host now finding out all this new information. He also tells use that the boys were quite astonished with the fact that they were allowed to go, but also felt that something was gone from it.
