Beowulf was an epic poem about a man battling a ferocious beast: however there is also a movie. The poem/movie were both interesting and takes place in the kingdom of Herot. The name of the killer beast Beowulf happened to battle, was named Grendel. Grendel hated the sound of joy and music. As the people of Herot rejoiced and played music, it caused the savage to attack. Grendel shows no remorse for his victims. The king of Herot, Hrothgar, couldn’t do anything about the beast. The people of Herot made songs about Grendel; somehow, they leaped overseas. As the songs leaped overseas, the mighty Beowulf hears them. Beowulf gathers his 12 of his greatest warriors and travels to Herot. Although there is a book and movie, there were many differences …show more content…

Beowulf is portrayed as a liar in the movie, but heroic in the book. In the movie Beowulf is known for winning all of his battles; although, one of the men from Herot labels him a liar. The man speaks on a battle he lost. Beowulf argues the situation. The people of Herot crowd around as they listen. Beowulf has his own explanation of what happened during that battle. He says that he was drug down to the bottom of the sea, which held him back from winning.

Movies and books are never the exact same, sometimes even the whole plot is changed around. In the book Beowulf the plot, characters, and setting are a lot different than they are when the movie was created. If a person watched the movie before they read the book, it may be totally confusing to read. In the book, Beowulf shows up and plans to fight with his men, then leaves to go back to his own kingdom. In the movie Beowulf, Beowulf ends up staying and becoming king of Dane Land.

The fact that Beowulf went to the fight displayed courage, selflessness along with caring from this one battle. The last fight Beowulf experienced was the one that ended the hero, a dragon who was aged, but still would not back down from a battle. Beowulf was quickly without his weapon, in his last attempt to attack the dragon, he was bitten and was soon brought to his end with Wiglaf by his side. Beowulf still, in his final minutes knew that he was unimportant and was just glad to have been able to find the treasure for his people even if he was killed in the process. Unsurprisingly, he was still thinking about his people and how he could
