The greatest start to the best speech is a good topic. The topic needs to be modern, up to date, interesting and fun. All of this is depending on your audience as well, so you wouldn’t want to give a speech on the first phones invented to fifth graders. The topic should appeal to the audience, and since most of my speeches will be done in my communication class my audience will be current college students just like myself. This makes it a little easier preparing a speech because I am a college student as well, so I have a bit of an idea of what may or may not appeal to my audience. There are many things that I need to consider before giving a speech, things like, how to be fully prepared with my information, how to not bore my audience to death, …show more content…
And being a college student myself I know how easy it is to lose attention on something. So I need to make sure during my speech to make it interesting and bring a visual aide because I know that, that may help me share my information better with students who learn better with visual aids as well as I do. As stated in our Frealeigh and Tuman textbook “If you want audience members to actively listen to your speech and ignore everything else going on you must motivate them to focus on what you’re saying. By selection supporting materials that appeal to your listeners interest, you sweeten the odds that they will pay attention to you.” So with this I feel that by getting something that most of my classmates or audience can connect with, will make them feel the need to pay attention to what I’m saying and actually have their full attention the entire time.
I feel like also learning what my classmate’s interests are may help me grab and keep their attention longer. Learning how to connect my topic to things they may like, for instance sports, famous people, or politics may help me peek their interest and keep their mind on me and what I am saying rather than looking around or look at their
Throughout the group article exercise really did showcase who's personalities were strong and who's personalities were not. Having a strong personality means that you are willing to listen to other people's opinions but will debate on it by logical thinking of how you came across your answer rather than people with not so strong personalities meaning they agree with the group decisions. Through my personality, it will really show how I came across my conclusions, how the group came across their conclusions and how the group is influenced by the decisions made through the online assessments.
A critical appraisal was completed to assess the value of the research study conducted by Batch & Windsor (2014). This was completed through the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme (CASP), which is a tool used to evaluate different research articles (CASP, 2014). I assessed that this article has significance, particularly for the nursing profession. Nevertheless, sections of this article could have been further developed by expanding the topic through using a greater variety of hospital settings and more diverse patient populations. Ethnography in the healthcare setting has been examined in the Nursing 1028 course. This article used an ethnographic framework to develop further assessment on such elements such as culture, disparities and gain comprehension of how nurses communicate (Batch & Windsor, 2014).
The purpose of this report is to conduct a critical appraisal of a published article.
For this task you are required to determine the risk context associated with establishing a new business outlet, within the existing business structure. They will be required to review internal and external environment factors and liaise with all stakeholders to generate a list of risks.
The purpose of this assignment is to self-reflect on what has been learnt in the topic this semester and how it is going to influence as a health professional in our chosen field. This assessment is made to encourage us to be able to identify the values and beliefs we have as individuals and how these impact on our ability to interact without others in a diverse society. This self-reflection will include the results from an Implicit Association Test to help gain a greater awareness of my own unconscious thoughts as well as evidence from reliable sources to help back up statements and give evidence to support this assessment.

I worked really hard on my visual aid. It was well developed, had moving graphics, and a cute baby yet it wasn’t too distracting. There wasn’t too many pictures on any individual slide and the background was plain enough to not be noticed. What little text I had, wasn’t just reading off the slide, it was to help the audience understand how much of each ingredient I used.
It takes a while for a team to be able to work cohesively, productively, and
I believe it is important for any student who wants to do their best in a class to take a moment to evaluate their own work to determine the rate their writing is progressing and how they can continue to advance their writing. When I looked through my own work I asked myself “what have I learned this semester?” and “what do I still need to learn in order to improve my writing?”. Answering both these questions will help me with my last step of my self-evaluation, developing a plan to learn new skills.
Self assessment is a process in which you examine yourself in attempt to discover and learn more about yourself. Your likes, dislikes, behaviors, attitudes and habits can be found during this process. You can use the discoveries to your advantage by accepting or changing strengths and weaknesses. I plan on using this course to enhance my personal skills to become a better student and find success in earning my Bachelor of Arts degree at Ashford University in Social Science. Self Assessment is the first step in my successful future.
“Now We Can Begin” an essay by Crystal Eastman is a very powerful essay. Eastman makes the point know in her essay that an honest and true feminist no matter where she stands in the movement she will see to the woman’s fight with strength and courage and how it matters in the future and as well as its difference in its approach for the workers fight for industrial freedom. Eastman state “In fighting for the right to vote most women have tried to be either non-committal or thoroughly respectable on every other subject. Now they can say what they are really after; and what they are after, in common with all the rest of the struggling world, is freedom”
Now that I have completed the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth course Crafting the Essay, I feel I have tremendously grown as a writer. Even after submitting the first assignment, I looked back at a position paper I wrote for school that I received an A+ on, yet I saw several flaws I wished I had changed.
With the continuous changes in healthcare, evaluation of students’ clinical knowledge and skills relies on the need for continuous evaluation. Evaluation is the process of using data to make judgements about students’ individual performance. Evaluation of clinical performance provides data from which educators use to judge the extent to which students have acquired specific learning outcomes (Billings & Halstead, 2016). With the use of best practice evaluation methods, clinical performance can be evaluated to ensure quality patient care. Educators face a challenging task when providing evaluation that is fair and reasonable. Tasked with evaluating students in the clinical setting, educators can evaluate how students integrate theory and apply it to real-life situations. Observations of performance in the clinical setting should focus on the outcomes to be met and competencies to be developed (Oermann & Gaberson, 2014). Developing a clinical evaluation tool to determine whether students can think critically, prioritize problems, and complete patient care procedures correctly is essential. There are a variety of evaluation methods to use in nursing education. Depending on the learning outcomes to be measured will determine which tool best evaluates the students’ performance. Clinical practice is an essential and highly significant component of nursing education. Education programs are obligated to respond to government requests for well-educated healthcare professionals.
Speech preparation is the most important element to a successful presentation, and also the best way to reduce nervousness and combat fear. Some of the steps I follow are choosing a topic,
Forms of feedback: A player can get feedback from a game in a variety of ways such as visual feedback, audio feedback and physical feedback. Visual feedback can come when a player succeeds or fails to complete something, for example often when a player wins or succeeds at something it is shown in bold green/blue or other bright colours however when a player fails or dies, the lose sign is often red and depressing. Colour psychology is when someone associates a certain colour with a certain feeling or experience be that good or bad, colour often gives off the placebo effect, red being hot and stimulating and cool colours being depressing. It is the same as gaming often certain coloured fonts are used when a player is supposed to feel sad
