Introduction
Imagine yourself walking thru the wilderness, the leaves crunching underneath your feet, birds singing in the distance, squirrels playing in the trees… Are you in a happy place? This is my happy place. I got to this place by backpacking. I started backpacking a few years ago out in Connecticut with some friends. Before we got into backpacking we started doing research by looking online and going to

C.2. Clothing can vary depending on the time of year or season. You should dress accordingly.
C.3. Shelter can be anything from a tent to just a plain tarp depending on what you want to stay under.
C.4. Food is what keeps you going on the trails and promotes fun on the trip.
II. After doing all the prep work and planning, picking the right gear is important to enjoy the trip.
A. The first type of gear that will be covered is the backpack. This is an important critical piece that helps you carry all the necessities without breaking your back. According to Backpackers start-up: A beginners Guide to Hiking & Backpacking there are 3 types of backpacks.
A.1. Internal frame packs have the frame on the inside of the backpack to allow the backpack to sit closer to the body and moves with the body to help navigate difficult terrain. This type also mitigates the chance of becoming off balance.
A.2. External frame packs support the weight away from the body, which helps in the ease of loading gear and allows sweat to evaporate from your body. This type can increase the chance of becoming off balance due to the weight not being close to the body.
A.3. Daypacks are smaller and good for short distances and light loads due to not much support other than the shoulder straps.
B. The second type of gear is clothing. You should dress accordingly to the season and weather you will be backpacking in.

To start with, many people often just don't take the time to learn the things that they can use to have a safe trip in the wild. So, instead of learning things to help them they depend on technology to keep the safe. In the public letter “Survival is Your Own Responsibility’ written by Daryl R. Miller, he states, “Taking communication on a trip is being responsible but basing how much risk you take because of that communication is negligent at best.” Its negligent to the fact that you can't base your whole survival on the luck that you
Specific Purpose: At the end of my speech, my audience will be able to identify the three components of building a house.
Navigational techniques such as hand railing, pacing and aiming of are designed for hiking activity mainly to assist and aid navigation. The advantage of using them is that it can make hiking easier and more comfortable to navigate, but it cannot be a replacement for navigational skills. To learn these techniques a simple practise can be done and its effectiveness observed by experienced hiker.
r. It is a lot of wasted money for just shorts. That lead to the decline of civilization and plus the money for shipping and that is a lot of wasted money.
This proposal is to help bring to life the Semester on the Appalachain, a semester long expedition on the Appalachian Trail for a group of ten participants, in order to provide an environment that can not be replicated in a typical classroom setting. In the proposal, it will provide research on the benefits of experiential and expedition education, improvement on psychological health, and organizations that run similar programs.

4. The weather will be cold outside, so you will need to wear a ______________ to school.
Place yourself in the following scenario...You peer at your alarm clock which reads 5:00AM as you slowly crawl out of bed. You survived an incredibly stressful week at work and feel extremely grateful that the weekend has arrived at last. As an outdoor enthusiast you have been waiting all week for today’s adventure. After quickly showering and gulping down a cup of steaming, black coffee, you pack up your camping gear. You secure your larger items to the top of your truck and drive off toward your destination all before 6:00AM.
Foremost among the benefits is perhaps the sheer experience of getting outside of someone’s comfort zone and embarking on an adventurous journey which few men would have the courage to even think about. Nowadays people, especially the younger generation, are seeking exciting activities which may be dangerous, such as mountain climbing, and these difficult journeys seem to be a favorable option for adrenaline-junkies. Furthermore, it must be said that due to the severe living conditions of these locations, the natural
She does not like nature, but she has gone on company retreats and with friends on many excursions. When she returns, Alice carries a backpacking pack, strapped with supplies for three days.
Overnight camping can be disenchanting if you are a novice. It just so happens that all the events that could spontaneously go wrong on a first-timer’s camping trip evidently go horribly erroneous within the first day of arriving at this odd newfound world called a camping site. Whether you hike in (carrying pounds and pounds of food and equipment on your back) or whether you drive (with all the monetary car trips are infamous for), you will probably be tired once you are ready to set up your camp. It is at this time—when you’re tired and groggy from such travels rather than joyous and excited for a new experience— that all the cynical mishaps reveal, seeming to appear one after the other. Even after strategically forming a list of camping
Rome et al. (2006) suggested the utilization of bungee cords to suspend the load from the backpack. Based on the idea that if the load does not have any vertical displacement, it would not exert any accelerative force, the researchers proposed “a backpack which load is suspended from an external frame by a compliant coupling that causes the load to be uncoupled from the body movement” (Rome et al., 2006). In this design, the backpack frame is attached to the body while the load is mounted on a load plate and suspended by chords. When the load is suspended the vertical displacement of the load is reduced because the load relative to the frame is similar and out of phase with the displacement of the frame relative to the ground. The study reported a reduction of 82% in peak acceleration of the vertical force. The limitation of this design is that it doesn’t provide a solution to reduce static loads.
Each year, thousands of people choose to spend their vacation in the outdoors camping. There are various types of camping depending on the individual's sense of adventure. You can choose from log cabin camping, recreational vehicle camping, and the so called “roughing it” tent camping which can be the most gratifying. However even the best planning, tent camping can be an extremely frustrating endeavor due to uncontrolled factors like equipment failures, bad weather, and encounters with wildlife.
For example in the article “The Most Important Rule” it talks about how there's a website where you can enter where you're hiking and what time your coming back, “ If you fail to respond to a text from the HikerAlert website, designated emergency contacts entered when the account was created”. Organizing and planning your hiking journey, more likely for you, you will have a better hiking experience than Aron and Amos, just remember you tell someone before you're going alone on an adventure.
