Hezekiah Butterworth (1839–1905)

Butterworth, Hezekiah. An American story-writer; born in Warren, RI, Dec. 22, 1839; died on Sept. 5, 1905. Author of popular juvenile stories and travels, including: ‘Zig-Zag Journeys’ (1876–80); ‘Songs of History: Poems and Ballads upon Important Episodes in American History’ (1887); ‘The Wampum Belt, or the Fairest Page of History’ (1896); ‘In the Boyhood of Lincoln’; ‘The Patriot Schoolmaster.’
