Jean Canis (b. 1840)

Canis, Jean (kä-nē’ or kä-nēs’). A French historian; born in Paris, Nov. 20, 1840. His realistic style, vivid narration, and scholarly impartiality have attracted special attention to two of his productions: ‘The Massacres in Ireland,’ and ‘History of the French Republic from 1870 to 1883.’
