Mary Hartwell Catherwood (1847–1902)

Catherwood, Mary Hartwell. An American writer of historical romances; born in Luray, OH, Dec. 16, 1847; died at Chicago, Dec. 26, 1902. She wrote: ‘Craque-o’-Doom’; ‘The Romance of Dollard’ (1889); ‘The Story of Tonty’ (1890); ‘A Woman in Armor’; ‘The Lady of Fort St. John’ (1891); ‘The Chase of St. Castin, and Other Tales’; ‘The Spirit of an Illinois Town’; ‘The White Islander’; and other novels.
