G. K. Chesterton (1874–1936)

Chesterton, Gilbert Keith. An English journalist and critic; born at London, May 29, 1874; died in 1936. He uttered paradoxical common sense on every possible topic in a great number of books. Among them are: ‘Twelve Types’ (1902); ‘Robert Browning’ (1903); ‘Heretics’ (1905); ‘Charles Dickens’ (1906); ‘All Things Considered’ (1908); ‘Tremendous Trifles’ (1909); ‘Alarms and Discursions’ (1910); ‘Letters to an Old Garibaldian’ (1915). He published several volumes of verse and many stories of fancy and mystery, such as ‘The Man who was Thursday’; ‘The Club of Queer Trades’ (1905); ‘The Innocence of Father Brown’ (1911).
