Edwin Anderson Alderman (1861–1931)

Alderman, Edwin Anderson. An American college president; born at Wilmington, NC, May 15, 1861; died in 1931. He was president of the University of North Carolina (1896–1900), Tulane University (1900–1904), and after 1904, of the University of Virginia. He published ‘Obligations and Opportunities of Citizenship’; ‘The Spirit of the South’; ‘Sectionalism and Nationality.’
